How Coconut Water Can Help with Healing After Oral Procedures

How Coconut Water Can Help with Healing After Oral ProceduresCoconut water and oil have great healing properties that most people do not know about. Having a glass of coconut water is also a great way to take advantage of all of the various vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.

This type of water is popular in many places, but rarely do you see it used for healing the mouth. In fact, most people tend to think of it being used primarily by athletes as a sports drink substitute.

Not only does it keep the mouth moist, which aids in the healing process, but it is a nourishing drink that many people enjoy because of the vitamins and nutrients and overall health benefit that comes from it. Coconut oil can also help remove bacteria in the mouth, giving your oral health a quick little boost in the process.

If you chill the coconut water, you can reduce the amount of swelling in the mouth and help to soothe any pain or discomfort that you may have after an extraction. Please keep in mind that you should never drink it through a straw after extraction, as sucking and using straws is prohibited until a specific amount of time after the procedure.

Coconut water is a great choice to go with when you want something refreshing, but also something that is going to help with the healing process. While coconut water is very helpful in terms of oral, and overall health, it is important to note that coconut water also contains natural sugars, which can harm your teeth, if you overindulge.

This should not be used as a substitute for good oral care from our office. Not only that, but a regular six-month cleaning and exam should always be done on schedule for the best dental hygiene. Give us a call today to learn more about the benefits that come from coconut water, but also to schedule your appointment to come in for a cleaning.
