Foods That Can Help to Freshen Your BreathOne situation we all run into sometimes is eating something that leaves us with bad breath and we don't have a toothbrush or toothpaste on hand. Our office is happy to inform you about the options when you are stranded like that again. Armed with this information, you can feel confident at work without that hidden toothbrush and paste.

Common Foods That Cause Bad Breath

It's not a secret that garlic and onions can cause bad breath. There are quite a few other foods to avoid less you land in an embarrassing situation. Stay away from citrus fruit, odor-causing bacteria enjoy the acidic environment, think about the plaque on your teeth, it's in essence acid working on your enamel. Canned fish and horseradish should be an easy decision. Last, is coffee which everybody knows that one guy in the office who always has coffee breath. Don't be that person.

Common Foods That Fight Bad Breath

If you're lucky enough to work in an environment that has a cafeteria or at least a vending machine with a good variety of snacks, these will help you fight off odor-causing bacteria throughout the day. Try and consume some raw fruits and veggies throughout the day, their texture removes bacteria from your teeth as you chew and swallow. Chewing some sugarless gum and drinking green tea will keep you fresh as the gum stop bad breath and the green tea fights it. Drinking plenty of water allows you to stay hydrated and produce saliva, which will fight off bad breath.

The most important things to remember in a good oral health routine is to floss once per day, followed by brushing for two minutes, two times each day, always ending with some good fluoride mouthwash. If you're still experiencing bad breath while practicing these habits, it may be a sign of other oral issues. Contact our office today for an appointment where we can discuss what the problem may be and come up with a solution.
